CoreWE7 · Practical buying guide

Prepare a clear earthing material enquiry.

For industrial, building and solar projects: understand the product names, organise your sizes and ask for useful documentation before ordering.

Updated 5 October 2026 · General procurement guidance, not an installation design or safety certification.

01 · Material selection

GI, copper-bonded or pure copper?

Start with the material and construction specified in the approved drawing, not the colour of a product photo. Galvanised iron, copper-bonded and pure copper products are different material choices. Solid rods, strip-in-pipe and pipe-in-pipe describe different constructions. Ask for the offered model, dimensions and material evidence; a generic certificate is not proof for every size or batch.

02 · Material selection

Read strip and plate dimensions correctly.

A 25 × 3 mm strip means 25 mm width and 3 mm thickness; its rectangular cross-section is 75 mm². A rod diameter, pipe wall thickness and strip thickness are not the same measurement. For strips give material, width, thickness and total running length. For plates give both side dimensions, thickness and quantity. These dimensions help prepare a quote; a competent designer must confirm conductor sizing and compatibility for the installation.

03 · Material selection

Backfill is part of a site-specific design.

Record the specified ground-enhancement material, required quantity, soil information and installation detail. Backfill compound and bentonite are not automatically interchangeable. Installation method and soil conditions influence the electrode-to-earth connection, so a bag size or electrode photograph cannot establish a guaranteed resistance value. Request the offered material information and follow the approved project method.

04 · Material selection

Plan inspection access and identification.

Match the cover or chamber to the opening, environment and expected site duty. Confirm any load rating rather than assuming every cover suits traffic. Strip insulators support the conductor; conductive clamps and connections serve a different role. Use an earthing name plate to identify the pit, connected equipment, actual measured value and test dates. Include these accessories and required mounting details in the BOQ.

05 · Material selection

Ask for the right report, not just a PDF.

A product test certificate concerns the supplied item and recorded inspection or test results. A site earthing test report concerns the installed system and its measurement conditions. Keep the two distinct. For site reports capture the location and pit ID, date, test method, instrument identification and applicable calibration record, readings, conditions and authorised reviewer. The tester must select the appropriate method for the actual system. Never fill a target value into the measured-result field or assume every site must meet one universal resistance number.

Before sending

Your quotation checklist.

  • Approved drawing or BOQ and application.
  • Material, construction, size, quantity and unit for every line.
  • Site city, delivery postcode and required schedule.
  • Required documentation and any approved make/model.
  • Supply, installation, testing and handover responsibilities.

No fixed price or availability is implied by the catalogue. We confirm the offered product and project scope with the quotation.
